We will improve the health and well-being of our residents. Liberal Democrats will work closely with all of the people in our community and will create ‘champions’ to represent the older, younger, vulnerable and excluded groups.

We will:

bullet

Improve facilities for young people in the District.

bullet

Appoint a youth/play coordinator to oversee all activities directed at young people and to maximise potential funding for local schemes and projects.

bullet

Actively support voluntary organisations, not least through the provision of grant-aid.

bullet

Set up a debt-counselling service and actively support Citizens' Advice Bureaux (CAB) and Tenants' Forums.

bullet

Work with hard-to-reach groups and those who are economically inactive.

bullet

Ensure bus passes are fully-funded for residents.

bullet

Abolish car parking charges at Needham Lakes which have proved so unpopular to residents and visitors wishing to enjoy this unique facility.

bullet

Nurture talent in fields such as sport and the arts to encourage self- esteem and educational attainment.

bullet

Encourage leisure and exercise by increasing public open green space.
Fund joint posts with the Primary Care Trust (PCT) to improve general health across the District.

Liberal Democrats, working for you not just at election time.
