team to improve the throughput and the transparency of decisions.

officer knowledge of local issues.

local knowledge to better inform planning decisions.

Improve the training of parish and District councillors on planning matters.

Ensure that any conditions applied to successful planning applications are
met, if necessary by enforcement, so that the features that make a development
desirable are properly provided.

Improve safety by requiring developers to implement the recommendations of
the fire & rescue service particularly sprinklers for premises in multiple
occupancy.

Discourage the conversion of pubs and shops to residential properties and use
the planning process to sustain and develop services in village and rural
locations.
Promote low carbon eco-friendly buildings and improved levels of insulation
throughout the housing stock.

Remove planning obstacles to the use of renewable energy: solar heating,
solar photovoltaic cells, heat pumps, wind generators and micro-generation.

Embed sustainable drainage and 'grey water' use in the Local Development
Framework so that environmentally-friendly systems are commonplace rather than
exceptional.

Operate a responsive and effective enforcement service including an ‘out of
hours’ facility which meets the needs of anyone reporting matters at
‘unsociable’ hours.

Adopt clearer procedures for how the Council will use parish plans, village
appraisals and design statements in the planning process.
